What pull-out shelves and roll-out drawers actually do
Pull-out shelves and roll-out drawers slide out from inside a cabinet so you can see everything at once. Same cabinet, same doors, but the inside swaps from a fixed shelf to a moving one. The drawer rides on heavy-duty soft-close glides that pull all the way out, hold weight without sagging, and close themselves with a soft tap. You get to the back of the cabinet without crouching, without unloading the front, and without losing track of what’s in there. Pantries, lower kitchen cabinets, vanities, laundry rooms, garages. If it has a door and a shelf, it can usually be converted.
What we install
Custom roll-out drawers for kitchens, pantries, baths, and laundry rooms. We build them to the inside dimensions of your existing cabinets so they slide cleanly without rubbing the frame or hitting hinges. Solid wood sides, dovetail joinery where the design calls for it, 100-pound rated full-extension soft-close glides on every drawer. Bottoms are 3/4-inch plywood, not particleboard. We finish with a clear sealer that holds up to the moisture and humidity you’d expect in a kitchen or a bath.
If you want a specific stain to match your cabinet interior, tell us at the consultation. Hardware can be swapped to undermount glides if you want the cleaner look of a hidden track. Pull-out trash and recycling combos, spice racks, deep pot drawers, vertical tray dividers, they’re all on the menu.
How we’re different from the national franchise companies
There are two business models for getting pull-out shelves in your cabinets.
The first is a national franchise. A corporate brand markets nationally, a local franchisee owns the territory, a designer in a polo measures your cabinets, a factory in another state builds the drawers, and a subcontracted installer puts them in. Five people in the chain, each taking a cut. That’s fine. It works. The product is good. But the price has to cover all five of them.
The second model is what we do. One craftsman, one shop, one truck. I measure your cabinets. I build the drawers in my shop in Palm Beach County. I drive to your house and install them. That’s it. Same product category, similar materials, same caliber of hardware. No designer commission, no franchise royalty, no national ad budget baked into the quote. The savings show up on your invoice.
The Drawer Dude process
The first step is a free in-home consultation. I show up at the time we agreed on, measure your cabinets, look at what you actually keep in them, and give you a written quote on the spot. No pressure to sign. No financing pitch. If you want to think on it, think on it. If you’re ready, I take a deposit and put your build on the schedule.
Lead time from deposit to install is typically 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the size of the project and the time of year. I build everything in my workshop, deliver on the install day, and put them in myself. A typical kitchen takes one full day on site. You don’t need to empty your cabinets ahead of time, but it helps if you can clear them the night before so we can move fast.
Materials and build quality
Sides: 1/2-inch Baltic birch plywood, sanded smooth, finished with a clear water-based sealer. Bottoms: 3/4-inch plywood for load-bearing strength. Joinery: rabbeted and screwed for kitchen drawers, dovetailed on request for premium projects. Glides: Blum or Salice full-extension soft-close, 100-pound rated, side-mount standard, undermount available. All hardware comes from established trade suppliers with a real warranty behind it.
Build quality is the part you don’t see and don’t think about until something fails. A roll-out drawer that sags after two years, sticks in humidity, or rattles every time you close it is a drawer that was built down to a price. I don’t build to a price. I build to last and price the work fairly.

Typical project timeline
Day 1: Consultation, measurement, quote. About 45 minutes at your house.
Days 2 to 14: Build in the shop. You don’t need to do anything during this stretch except keep using your kitchen normally.
Install day: One full day on site, typically 8 AM to 4 PM. I bring everything I need, including drop cloths and a vacuum. Your cabinets stay where they are. Your cabinet doors stay where they are. Only the inside changes.
Day after install: I check in by text to make sure everything is sliding right and ask if there’s anything to adjust.

What’s the difference between a pull-out shelf and a roll-out drawer?
Same idea, different name. Some companies say pull-out, others say roll-out. A shelf is usually a single flat surface that slides forward. A drawer adds sides and a back so things stay put when you slide it. I build drawers, because they’re more useful and the price difference is minor.
Do you fit existing cabinets or replace them?
I fit your existing cabinets. The cabinet stays. The shelf inside gets replaced or supplemented with a sliding drawer. Faster, cheaper, and your kitchen looks the same from the outside.
How long does installation take?
Most kitchens are one full day. Smaller projects (3 to 5 drawers) can be a half day. I’ll tell you straight at the consultation.
What’s the lead time from consultation to install?
Two to four weeks typically. Faster turnaround is possible if my schedule has a gap. Slower in the busy season (late fall and early spring) when snowbirds are setting up their winter homes.
Do you work with HOA-restricted condos?
Yes. I carry general liability insurance and can email a COI to your HOA office before install.
What hardware do you use?
Blum and Salice glides, 100-pound rated, soft-close. Side-mount standard, undermount on request.
Do you offer a warranty?
One year on the install. Lifetime on the hardware (Blum and Salice both back theirs).
